Nasir El-Rufia Threatens the European Union Election Observers
The European Union Election Observation Mission has reacted to comments and dangerous threat made by Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, over foreign election interference.
The mission said its election observers are very much impartial and will not interfere in the electoral process and operated according to a strict code of conduct guiding their delegates.
The mission for the foreign observers was to make sure the forthcoming general elections is conducted accordingly. It added that it was invited to monitor the 2019 elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), adding that this was the sixth time it was observing elections in the country.
El-Rufai had threatened that foreigners including election monitors who intervene in Nigeria’s affairs “will go back in body bags.”
